This study looks into the debate in Brazil’s science field about assessment of teaching and learning in Physical Education journals published between 1932 and 2014. It reviewed 14 journals and found 56 articles. Based on bibliometric indicators, it established three lines of analysis: distribution of the articles according to year of publication; journal; author’s place of work; authors. The results point to an increase in production on the topic in the last four years compared to the previous decade. However, there are still gaps in terms of texts addressing childhood education and secondary education.
