This text is part of a dissertation investigation which aimed at understanding the pedagogical practice of a collaborative teacher in dealing with the sports knowledge in Physical Education in the 5th and 8th grades. The choice for this case study is justified by the acknowledgement that in the teacher’s practice there was an innovative profile, especially in regards the treatment of the component “Sports” which aims at overcoming the paradigm of instrumental rationality. The collaborative teacher does not disregard the sport as a curricular content in Physical Education at school, but replaces it in a dimension which is articulated with the sports phenomenon, and between the epistemological universe and the pedagogical one.
