THE JOB MARKET FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROFESSIONALS IN THE STATE OF PARANÁ, BRAZIL

This study analyzed the characteristics of Physical Education professionals formally employed in the state of Paraná over a period of 10 years. The data were extracted from the Annual Register of Social Information (RAIS) from 2007 and 2017. The database is disclosed by Brazil’s federal government and provides a descriptive analysis of information on age range, gender and payment for different occupations. The results showed that formal employment rates decreased in the 40-49 age group but increased in the 50+ age group. When looking at activity sectors, women were the minority among employed people. Over 60% of with formally employed professionals had lower-paid jobs.
