This paper is part of a larger research project aimed at describing the current state of production of knowledge on the body on five Brazilian Physical Education journals (Revista Brasileira de Ciência e Movimento, Motus Corporis, Pensar a Prática, Motrivivência and Revista da Educação Física). In methodological terms, the study is based on a bibliometric analysis of articles addressing the body circumscribed to the sociocultural and pedagogical field. This article presents several percentage tables describing the decennial distribution, in the journals, of articles on the subject, their typology, as well as authors’ identification, credentials, and institutional and regional affiliation. The analysis focuses on providing an interpretation of these data based on a dialogue with other studies with a similar purpose.
