The aim of this paper is to understand the dilemmas, possibilities and limitations faced by physical education in two schools with educational curricula considered different. We used the ethnographic method and visited the two schools between August and December of 2007. The results show that although the academic debate identifies them as different, the applied curricula approach the two realities. We conclude that both educational proposals are successful as far as they represent practical constructions of the accumulated knowledge in the area and responses to the main dilemmas of physical education intervention at schoolDownloads
