    Abstract

In a research recently carried through (Melo, 2004), I looked for to argue that it is possible to identify to many neighborhoods between cinema and sport in the first moments of the constitution of the industry of the spectacle, something that must be understood in the context of the construction of modernity. This article has for objective to demonstrate of an empirical form as if they had established the relationships between the two languages since before the first public exhibition of a film, promoted for the Lumière brothers in 1895. My basic intention is to identify the changes that had in the representations of the sport in the cinema, to the measure that ripens the cinematographic language and that dialogues between the two manifestations are established.
