Abstract

This paper presents a description about critical pedagogy of Physical Education in anglophone literature. Its methodology is based on a review of international books and journals that publish articles on the topic in English language. The analysis shows the theoretical influences of that perspective and the criticism produced by – and against – the socio-critical discourse. It also provides an overview about its development in recent years. As an expression of the pluralism that characterizes it, the article also shows two current examples of critical pedagogy in the literature researched, focusing on the future challenges of that tradition.

Felipe Quintão Almeida, UFES

Graduação em Educação Física pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (UFES). Mestre em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2007). Doutorado em Educação pela mesma instituição (2009). Licenciando em Filosofia da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (2011). Tem experiência na área de Educação e Educação Física, com ênfase em: educação física escolar e epistemologia da educação física. Entre 2010 e 2018, foi editor adjunto da Revista Brasileira de Ciências do Esporte (RBCE) e do Cadernos de Formação RBCE . Foi Secretário Estadual do Colégio Brasileiro de Ciências do Esporte no Espírito Santo (gestão 2010-2012). Atuou como vice-secretário entre 2012-2014. Foi Coordenador adjunto do Grupo de Trabalho Temático Epistemologia, do Colégio Brasileiro de Ciências do Esporte, na gestão 2011-2013 e 2017-2019. Foi Diretor Científico do Colégio Brasileiro de Ciências do Esporte (2013-2017).
