This article sought to understand Brazilian national developmentalism (1946-1964) through the intervention of the federal government and political, social and economic actions. The text debates these issues through interdisciplinarity, aiming at the idealization of a Political Memory. This paper will analyze a phase of Brazilian history marked by strong economic growth and questionable social policies that led to sedimentation of Brazil’s major inequality gap (especially concerning income distribution). The analysis of that historical moment will surround the critical evaluation of public policies implemented for the practice of Physical Education at that time, with an emphasis on sport, playful and recreational ones.
