This study aims to analyze the discourse of two agents established in different fields, political and sports: the ex-Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the ex-player Ronaldo Nazario de Lima, respectively. These personalities had a discussion in the 2006 World Cup about the fitness of the player, which was tensioned (and broadly reported by the media) after the president’s affirmations about the physical condition of Ronaldo. For accomplishing this study, we used the Analysis of Discourse precepts, developed by Eni Orlandi and Pierre Bourdieu to discuss the proposed problematic. The significance of the text assumes that such agents possibly risked their legitimacy, when extrapolating their particular field. We realized that the controversial was exposed again by the press years later, probably because of a business purpose, in order to raise sales with a discussion about two representable agents in national and international scene.
