For an Alternative School Writing: lessons from João Guimarães Rosa

With the aim of formulating a reflective horizon capable of fostering alternative ideas on writing practices within the educational domain, this study examined some of João Guimarães Rosa’s writing procedures. To this end, it first focused on the proposal recurrently in a set of educational journal articles that address writing as an ethical-aesthetic experience. It then analyzed the intricacies of the writing exercises contained in the author’s Cadernos de Estudos (Study Notebooks). In the final considerations, based on Rosa’s lessons, the study advocates for gestures that endorse an expansive way of carrying out the writing task in the pedagogical sphere.
