TRAVELING AROUND PELÉ: LITERARY CONSTRUCTIONS ABOUT THE "KING" – BIOGRAPHY AND AUTOBIOGRAPHY

The objective of the study is to analyze two biographical productions about Pelé in order to understand how they build an image about him. We thus aimed to establish similarities and differences that align to Mario Filho’s theory about miscegenation. In order to study such sources, we used literary analysis based on Antonio Candido’s notion of fusion between text and context. It was possible to notice that the works approached are related by a single goal: idolizing Pele, through exalting the mestizo – a trait seen as typically Brazilian at the time.
