This article analyzes the Discurso sobre la educación física y moral de las mujeres by Josefa Amar y Borbón, published in 1790. After a formal study of the work, highlights the ideological chiaroscuro of her female education proposal. Using the opinion of the censor where praises and describes the work, we examine topics such as equality and difference, utility and docility, reformism and doctrinal conformity, etc. It follows that it is a typically illustrated work, even with traits of civility manuals precedents, where reformist ideals are inextricably linked to the expectations of cultural and political domination of the emerging bourgeoisie.
