Abstract

This work is part of a research of ethnographic character that aimed to understand the meaning attributed to the practice of street dancing by young residents of the periphery of Porto Alegre. Among other conclusions, it was identified that the practice of dancing, among with ideological principles set by elements of the hip-hop culture and symbolized by the attitude, leading to a political and social engagement, with the purpose of building a worthy life for self and rescue children and adolescents in risk situation.
