This study accosts the football in Salvador-BA and it aims to identify ways and meanings of its arrival in the city and examine its history and construction as a social practice, between 1899 and 1920. This text is justified by the importance of Salvador in politics and economy of the country, as it was one of the first cities to have football. The football began in the elite, as a practice of “modern” values to increase in popularity, reaching every city, in the same way the clubs were formed, the elite at the beginning, after popular foreigner’s colony. The practice began in squares, only later, was built its own field, its trajectory follows the process of trying to include the city in modernity.Downloads
