    Abstract

This paper reconstitutes the history of leisure in National Constituent Assembly of 1987-1988, identifying the political actors responsible for its inclusion as social right in the Constitution, as well as the interests and meanings of leisure involved in this process. Privileges as sources the documents produced by the National Constituent Assembly 1987-1988. Found traces allow us to perceive that although the leisure have been understood as central to the lives of Brazilian citizens by all political actors participated in this process, no mobilization and organization around the leisure to justify its definition as a social right in the Constitution.
