      Abstract

      This study aimed at exploring the main meanings assigned to the project “Esporte em Ação - Unit Vila Torres, Curitiba/PR, according to the perception of students, parents, and professionals involved with the project. The research was qualitative and exploratory, and the data were collected through semi-structured and open interviews with professionals, parents, and students. The analysis was based on grounded theory procedures. The project is perceived as a space that protects the participants against "evils of the streets", as a learning space, and as a space to play, have fun and be with friends.
