The analysis of a dance spectacle, considered as a cultural manifestation that reflects aspects of a society, can be seen as continuity of the creation process. Based on Pavis (2010) and Siqueira (2006), this study examined the spectacle Caminho da Seda, Race Dance Company of St. Paul, focusing on representations of femininity and masculinity through video and photos. It were observed elements that kept traditional images and aesthetic standards of dance; however, pointed out different representations contrasting with some stereotypes of sexual roles, reflecting on stage a mix that introduces new constructions of body and movement of contemporary dance scene.
