The text makes considerations concerning the construction of the knowledge and the assimilation of information from cultural products, in special books and films. It establishes similarities and differences between the activity of the reader and of the cinematographic spectator, considering the distinction between texts that tend to the narrative and texts that tend to the compendium. It analyzes the way as the book and the reading _ is represented in two films __ La Lectrice, by Michel Deville, and The Próspero’s Books, by Peter Greenaway __, considering them paradigmatics of two possibilities of reading/reception of written and audiovisual texts. Finally, it reflects on standards of continuity and rupture of these activities from the context of the Internet and the ciberculture.
