Abstract

The article is about the documentary The island of Bergman (2006) by Marie Nyreröd. The aim is to study the cinematographic thought of the director Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007) when analyzing critically two of his classic works: The seventh seal (1956) and Persona (1965). This research privileges the use of concepts about the cinematographic message within the theoretical method of Roland Bathes’ obtuse message. The filmmaker's thought based on existential questions results in the life-death duality and reality-fiction as well as the poetic impact of his ideas for the present moment. Life contradictions are the concerns of the swedish director who launches questions without definitive answers. The conclusion is that his authorial work based on these two films aims to seek perfection and the psychological-existential dimension as well as unveiling the path of interiority.

Atílio Avancini, Universidade de São Paulo (USP)

Paulistano, fotógrafo, professor doutor nível 2 em RDIDP (MS-3.2) da ECA-USP. Mestre e Doutor em Ciências da Comunicação-Jornalismo (ECA-USP). Professor do Departamento de Jornalismo e Editoração (CJE) com ingresso em 01/09/1997. Professor permanente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Meios e Processos Audiovisuais (PPGMPA) na linha de pesquisa Poéticas e Técnicas. Pós-doutor pela Université Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3 com bolsa de pesquisa no exterior BPE-FAPESP (2011-2012), supervisão do Prof. Dr. Philippe Dubois. Professor-visitante da Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (2007 e 2017). Estágio (doutorado sanduíche) na Université Stendhal Grenoble 3 (2003). Assessor ad-hoc, desde 2012, emitindo pareceres sobre projetos de pesquisa apresentados à FAPESP. Autor dos livros: Lavagem do Bonfim (Alameda, 2016); Entre Gueixas e Samurais (Edusp/Imprensa Oficial, 2008); Atílio Avancini - coleção artistas da USP n. 15 (Edusp, 2006). Autor do livro Rastros (Com-Arte, 2018) com Sérgio Avancine. Organizador do livro: Ponte Cultural (ECA-USP, 2016). Produziu 19 artigos científicos e 7 capítulos de livro. Supervisor acadêmico da Empresa Estudantil Jornalismo Júnior da ECA-USP. Coordenador científico do Grupo de Pesquisa Políticas da Imagem (GPPI) da ECA-USP. Pesquisador do Grupo de Estudos Arte Asiática (GEAA) da UNIFESP, coordenação Profa. Dra. Michiko Okano. Participou de 19 exposições fotográficas no Brasil e no exterior. Orientou 7 mestres (dois com bolsas Fapesp e OEA-GCUB), 3 de iniciação científica (dois com bolsa FAPESP), 50 trabalhos de conclusão de curso (CJE). E supervisionou 1 pós-doutorado (bolsa CNPq). Orienta 3 doutorandos, 2 mestrandos (um com bolsa CAPES), 1 iniciação científica. E supervisiona 1 pós-doutorado. Há 29 citações no Google Scholar. Áreas de atuação: comunicação, arte, fotojornalismo, audiovisual, editoração.
