Abstract

The paper presents Peirce as a reader and critic of world literature, gives an outline of the main elements and principles of discourse analysis based on the Peircean trivium of speculative grammar, critical logic and speculative rhetoric and focuses on discourse analysis as interpretation, reasoning, as well as on the text as an argument.

WINFRIED NÖTH, professor de linguística e semiótica e diretor do Centro de Pesquisa em Cultura da Universidade de Kassel até 2009, é hoje professor do Programa de Pós-graduação em Tecnologias da Inteligência e Design Digital da PUC São Paulo. É autor do Handbook of Semiotics e de outros 30 livros e 400 artigos na área da semiótica geral e linguística, semiótica das mídias, semiótica dos mapas e Charles S.
