The emergence of disinformation and the concept of post-truth has raised questions about the nature of truth and the role of information in society. In order to contribute to this debate, we look at two thinkers who have influenced the foundations of modern thought on communication, beliefs and cognition. Charles S. Peirce, with his contributions to logic, semiotics and pragmatism, and Walter Lippmann, in his critical analysis of the media and public opinion, provide valuable insights for this investigation. This paper, using a bibliographical and theoretical review, argues that post-truth, a discursive phenomenon, uses strategies that mobilize consensus, beliefs, stereotypes and signs.
