Far-right and attack on democracy in Brazil

This text starts from the following problem: What are the main frames of meaning constructed by traditional media newspapers about the events of January 8th in Brasília? To this end, the printed editions of January 9, 2023, one day after the events, published by four Brazilian newspapers were analyzed: Folha de S. Paulo, Estado de S. Paulo, O Globo and Correio Braziliense, using Content Analysis methodologies and framing concepts to understand how the process of constructing news and reports on the attacks that occurred in Brasília took place. From the analysis, it is identified that the covers in question showed both in textual and visual forms the repulsion against the attacks of January 8th on democracy with positions and framework of interpretations that highlight the actions of terrorism and depredation of public property and the fight for the right to democracy in the country.
