KNOWLEDGE PRODUCTION IN GYMNASTICS: AN ANALYSIS BASED ON BRAZILIAN JOURNALS

Based on bibliographic parameters, this article analyzed the current scenario of “gymnastics” in academic-scientific research published in Brazilian journals indexed in the area of Physical Education by Capes in 2000-2015. We found 340 articles on 61 journals, mainly from Southeastern Brazil, with a peak in publication on the subject in 2010. Furthermore, Brazilian production is conveyed in journals from strata B4, B1 and B2, and none of them continuously published studies about gymnastics during the period. It is possible to confirm that the increase in publications coincided with the organization and consolidation of events in the area. A decrease in production after 2010 can be explained by the attempt to internationalize research and high interest in publishing in journals of higher impact factor.
