It is a known fact that France was important in the development of contemporary circus and the latter influenced educational practices in Physical Education. Considering the importance acquired by French journal Éducation Physique et Sport (EP&S) in that field and the increase in the number of publications on the subject, we present a study on the articles published in the journal between 1969 and 2015. We analyzed 73 articles, most of which are teachers’ experience accounts that present different ways of organizing content as teaching units, discussing their pedagogical specificities and the several arguments that, as a whole, advocate teaching circus within Physical Education.
