Aspects of the evaluation of information literacy in higher education institutions

The information society brings itself new dilemmas for education, especially related to training that has been offering to students. The higher education institutions face the challenge of preparing individuals with critical thinking skills, as well as developing processes related to information literacy. To implementation of such programs it is necessary to establish some processes, such as planning, administrative and financial support, human and information resource and mainly the evaluation. This way, this paper seeks to systematize theoretically the evaluation, the methods, and it indicates some instruments, helping to strengthen the practical of implementation of such programs in higher education institutions. It is considered that through the assessment can be verified: if the program was successful, if the objectives were achieved, if there was the acquisition of information literacy by the students, the performance of instructors and other involved members, and finally the implications for the institution.Downloads
