Abstract

This text combines theoretical-theatrical reflections ranging from Aristotle to post-dramatic theatre, including Brecht and Schiller. It deals with the pedagogical concerns about the meaning and paths that current youth and children’s theatre could and should take. It also discusses this kind of theatre, from the standpoint of the transformations that theatrical works undertook in their aesthetics and in their very concept over the twentieth century. We propose to abandon the alleged educational function that has traditionally been attributed to children and youth theatre.
