Abstract

A intenção, neste texto, é refletir sobre a pesquisa desenvolvida na América Latina, com o objetivo de denunciar a comunicação de massa, identificando seus pressupostos teórico-metodológicos e a localização de seus pólos de difusão. Identifico, na teoria crítica a inspiração epistemológica; na realidade latino-americana a emergência de intelectuais comprometidos que deram guarida a este enfoque; e na Venezuela, Chile e México os países que melhor acolheram esta matriz. Por fim, pretendo acompanhar as apropriações acadêmicas, sociais e culturais desta perspectiva teórico-política que fundou a pesquisa em comunicação na América Latina e onde se encontram seus desdobramentos nos dias atuais.
