In the contemporary landscape of digital game releases, promotional strategies have become increasingly complex and diverse. Within this context, this ongoing post-doctoral research delves into the promotional strategy of the game Marvel Rivals, released in December 2024, with a particular focus on the campaign conducted within the interface of Marvel Snap. To comprehend the business modeling dynamics and interconnections between the two games, this study is grounded in the contributions of Mastrocola, which provide a relevant theoretical framework. Moreover, the notion of “spreadable media” proposed by Jenkins, Green, and Ford and the concept of “entrenchment advertising strategies” developed by Carrascoza are mobilized to enrich the analysis. With the aim of assessing the effectiveness of the communication strategy designed to connect players between the two games, a quantitative survey was conducted among Marvel Snap players, following the methodological guidelines proposed by Landers and Bauer and Punch. The results obtained indicate that utilizing a well-established game like Marvel Snap can positively influence the launch and user engagement of a new title within the same franchise.
