Heidegger, Post-Modern Thought and Education.

In this paper, I question in what extent Heidegger’s philosophy has inspired the contemporary ontological relativism and has contributed to the constitution of the post-modern agenda in education. I consider that in the Heideggerian notion of overcoming metaphysics there is an anti-materialist ontology from which one derives the disqualification of objective knowledge, especially of science. This is the core the post-modern agenda, to which it pays homage to. First, I approach the notion of overcoming metaphysics in many Heidegger’s texts. Second, I discuss the kinship and the distance between Heideggerian philosophy and the post-modern agenda. Finally, I point out educational aspects of the appropriation of the later Heidegger’s philosophy by the post-modern agenda.Downloads
