Women and knowledge organization: analysis in the journal Knowledge Organization

This study aims to present an overview of research published in the journal Knowledge Organization that addresses the relationship between women and Knowledge Organization. Bibliographic, exploratory, and descriptive in nature, the study identified and analyzed six articles that offer theoretical, critical, and applied contributions grounded in feminist, intersectional, and decolonial perspectives, with a focus on the development of Knowledge Organization Systems that are more sensitive to epistemic, social, and identity-based diversities. The analyzed works emphasize contextual and epistemological approaches that recognize feminism as a complex theoretical discourse, which calls for the revision of terms, semantic relationships, indexing policies, and continuous terminological updating. They recommend the adoption of gradual and prototypical categories to increase classificatory flexibility, as well as the use of relational ontologies grounded in Indigenous knowledge. The development of OntoVDFcM is also highlighted as a practical initiative in Knowledge Organization, designed to support the National Risk Assessment Form and the Police Incident Report. The study demonstrates the diversity of approaches to women and Knowledge Organization in the journal, contributing to the mapping of research trends and to the strengthening of debates on representation and informational justice in Knowledge Organization Systems.
