Memory and forgetfulness, or the informational solitude of contemporary man: the metaphor of the film Amnésia

The film Amnésia is analysed in a referential framework that evokes the concepts of time, memory and information; its point of departure are the impressions postgraduates students in information science have of the film. The proposed analysis attempts to reflect on the relations between information and memory and their significance in contemporary society as favoring rapidity, efficacy and efficiency of information, trying to put a high premium on information and its means of transmission all the while one is rapidly causing those same means to become obsolete. At the same time, the article seeks to understand how individuals move through this paradox of a superabundance of informational registers and the difficulties they have in trying to give it a kind of meaning; of the impotence of the subject which loses memory and instinct and which appears dislocated in time, society and space.Downloads
