Introduction: In the training of different health professional groups, the theoretical aspects and practical work experiences integrated in Primary Health Care (PHC) are not always present in undergraduate curricula, or are offered as extracurricular activities. Outsourced work, with weak links, increases the possibility of professional turnover, interfering in the work process and the performance of PHC teams with people-families-community. Objective: To describe the course construction process to qualify new professionals in the Primary Health Care Management (GAPS) of the Conceição Hospital Group (GHC), in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Experience report: The preparation of the course was organized in three moments that included the invitation for professionals to participate in the working group (GT); the GT meetings to organize the course and the training day. The course construction process encouraged students to reflect on the challenges of continuing ongoing health education in the face of immediate care needs, mainly in relation to the difficulty in perceiving health education as a fundamental part of the work. The topics discussed highlighted the outsourcing of PHC services in the municipality and the knowledge and protagonism of professionals in the social control agenda stand out. Labor issues and the loss of APS characteristics emerged as critical points to be observed. Experience has shown that the use of technology is positive in supporting pedagogical processes in health. Conclusion: The course promoted discussions on issues relevant to PHC. The participants reiterated the need to bring PHC professionals closer to social control, through participation in the working day, which was included as a key element so that spaces are occupied democratically and resolutely by all actors involved.
