Debate público e identidades coletivas: a representação de moradores de favela na produção cultural da televisão brasileira
Keywords:
Public debate. Representation. Slum dwellers.Abstract
The aim of this communication is to discuss the possible contributions that brazilian television may offer to public debate and to the construction of collective identities beyond what is traditionally brodcasted by journalism. Our goal is to point out and discuss that other products and media types may well adress political issues and promote reflections and discussions about them, as well as topics of collective interest and nature, by presenting new topics, focuses and forms of exchange, including those of people who suffer social exclusion and lack of recognition. Based on analysed material, this text presents an empiric example – the short series City of men ( Cidade dos Homens ), exhibited by TV Globo since 2002.
