The exercise of communicative citizenship from the ethics of care

Abstract

This text has its fundamental objective to reflect on the dimension of care as a tactical and strategic tool for the production of communicative citizenship. To do so, we draw on the knowledge production of black authors, who understand care beyond colonial and fictional gender regulations, but as a fundamental horizon for individual and collective political articulation, elaboration and mobilization. In this text, we focus on the analysis of the communicational practices developed by the Odara Collective and Institute, from Salvador/Brazil, and by the Afrofeminist Collective, from Barcelona/Spain. Thus, two members of the both Coletivos were interviewed, between March 2019 and October 2020. It was observed that the collectives build actions of care and generosity, in which communication is thought of as a right and a dorsal dimension of the formation of communicating subjects. The data indicate that the feminist collectives use care as a strategy and tactic to produce sensitive communication whose center is in dialogue and in the recognition of the subjects' autonomy and critical sense.
