Teaching in Higher Education and the New Relations between Education and Market

Teaching in higher education has been impacted by the changes promoted by the New Public Management and Industry 4.0, which demands private sector practices to maximize the efficiency of public management. This article is based on a qualitative and exploratory analysis. It examines the convergences between traditional curriculum theories and the New Public Management, and the repercussions for teaching. The research carried out in undergraduate courses, seeks to understand the phenomenon and its contradictions. The results show the influence of these changes on the regulation of institutional objectives, guiding universities actions towards the institutional reputation linked to the education-market relationship.
