Abstract

The network of academic-governmental and economic-business actors involved in the latest phase of digital society, contributing to the smartification of education, is examined. The methodology is part of a documentary review, supported by the compilation of 224 scientific articles. The results point to: 1. The strategic involvement of the Asian continent (particularly China) in shaping the global map of smart education; 2. The role played by high-tech transnational companies in shaping the smart educational agenda; and 3. The integration of smart education with the growing social penetration of intelligent technologies and the socio-technical demands of digital society.
