O artigo trata de reflexões sobre um processo de pesquisa em andamento cujo foco é o acoplamento de crianças diagnosticadas com transtornos do espectro autista com o iPad. O grupo de pesquisa construiu um quadro teórico em torno dos pressupostos do paradigma da complexidade principalmente aqueles relacionados aos desdobramentos do movimento cibernético a partir da cibernética de segunda ordem. Assim, os conceitos de autopoiesis e acoplamento estrutural da teoria da Biologia da Cognição de Humberto Maturana e Francisco Varela e o conceito de complexificação/aprendizagem pelo ruído de Henri Atlan nos sustentam para entendermos os processos cognitivos dos sujeitos envolvidos neste ambiente digital. Com isso, enfrentamos também os tradicionais modos de abordar a cognição em sujeitos desta síndrome que priorizam rotinas ignorando os avanços das neurociências em neuroplasticidade. As evidências da pesquisa são muito significativas mostrando transformações cognitivas, afetivas e comunicacionais destes sujeitos.
