Use of Artificial Intelligence

Instructions on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Polis e Psique Journal

The Polis e Psique Journal allows the use of Artificial Intelligence tools as support for the research, writing, and editing processes of manuscripts. Such use is conditional upon explicit disclosure, in accordance with the Guide on the use of AI tools and resources in research communication within the SciELO Network. The use of AI must be compatible with the Journal’s focus and scope, preserving the critical, analytical, and authorial nature of the texts, as well as their integration into contemporary debates within the thematic axes of Polis e Psique.

 

AUTHORS

At the time of submission, authors must attach a Declaration on the use or non-use of Artificial Intelligence.

Any and all use of AI tools in the development of the research or the writing of the manuscript must be explicitly reported, indicating the purpose and the type of application used. When relevant, this information must appear in the abstract and the methods section (or equivalent section).

Authors must properly inform and mention all sources of materials used, ensuring correct attribution of references and complete citations. It is the authors' responsibility to verify the veracity and existence of the works cited, as AI applications may generate inaccurate or non-existent references.

The intellectual, ethical, and public responsibility for the text’s content — including arguments, analyses, interpretations, and theoretical, epistemological, and methodological choices — rests entirely with the authors. Concealing the use of AI or delegating the production of analyses, results, or interpretations to AI constitutes a breach of the principles of transparency and integrity in scientific research.

 

EDITORS

Editors must ensure the quality and integrity of published manuscripts, considering the theoretical, epistemological, and methodological specificities that characterize the scope of Polis e Psique. To this end, they must have adequate training and access to updated tools and resources that assist in identifying content generated or significantly altered by AI.

Editors must follow current ethical and editorial standards and best practices, transparently recording any use of AI tools in the process of receiving, evaluating, or editing manuscripts.

 

REVIEWERS

Reviewers must be prepared to analyze manuscripts, ensuring the quality, originality, and critical consistency of the texts, in line with the Journal’s focus and scope. They must have training and access to resources that assist in identifying content produced or modified by AI.

The use of AI tools in the evaluation process must comply with ethical standards and be explicitly recorded in the reviews. The omission of such use constitutes a disagreement with ethical principles and compromises the transparency and integrity of the peer-review process.
