This article discusses the preliminary results of a doctoral research focusing on family support conducted by professionals operating within the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS), whose objective was to investigate the practices and methodologies of these technicians at the Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) and the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Centers (CREAS). Using the concept of rhizome, understood as a network of lines, we traced key issues in the professionals' work, including: the precariousness of SUAS; challenges in network collaboration; individual-centered education; the normalization of the nuclear family; the bureaucratization of practices; and the risk of guardianship inherent in family support. We also observe inventive practices in family support present in an active micropolitics. We conclude by emphasizing the importance of family support and the need to critically examine work with these groups.
