This study examines the publishing behavior of authors from the original BRICS countries in the field of Library and Information Science. Bibliometric data and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the language, journal distribution, and access types of articles published in Web of Science -indexed journals from 2020 to 2022. The researchers published 7,064 articles in 425 journals. China published 3,335 (47%) of the total; India published 1,500 (21%); Brazil published 1,192 (17%); Russia published 559 (8%); and South Africa published 478 (7%) articles. The journals with the most articles are Information Process Management and Scientometrics. Results show three distinct models of participation in global publishing: China published all articles in English in foreign journals; India and South Africa published all articles in English in foreign and national journals; and Brazil and Russia published articles in English and local languages and distributed in foreign and national titles, mainly open access with no publication fees. More than 70% of the articles are published in subscription journals.
