Resumen

Este artigo considera diferentes tipos de sistemas de informação, sistemas de organização do conhecimento e infraestruturas de informação em relação a problemas enfrentados em tempos de crise, como a pandemia de COVID-19. A análise dessas questões rapidamente conduz a debates mais fundamentais sobre a organização do conhecimento. Entre os sistemas discutidos estão infraestruturas gerais voltadas ao público em geral, como Wikipedia, Google e ChatGPT; estruturas específicas de domínio também destinadas ao público em geral, como sites relacionados à saúde; estruturas gerais para especialistas, como as bases de dados de citações Scopus, Dimensions, Google Scholar e Web of Science; e estruturas específicas de domínio para especialistas, como MEDLINE e FindZebra. Todos esses sistemas são examinados sobretudo a partir da perspectiva da COVID-19. O artigo concentra-se em problemas comuns a todos os tipos de sistemas de organização do conhecimento, incluindo questões relativas a “recuperação de documentos” versus “recuperação de informação”, “linguagem natural” versus “vocabulário controlado”, “melhor correspondência” versus “correspondência exata”, além de debates relacionados à filosofia da ciência. Conclui-se que, em tempos de crise, são necessários tanto novos sistemas especializados quanto a atualização dos sistemas já existentes. O aspecto mais importante para a organização do conhecimento, enquanto campo de pesquisa e prática, é o foco na base teórica comum a todos os tipos de sistemas de organização do conhecimento, pois é esse fundamento que pode manter o campo unido.
