The book Biblioteca na escola (2024), by librarian and researcher Silvia Castrillón, is an invitation to reflect more deeply on school libraries and education. Organized into six chapters, the author works on access to material culture, books, literature and mediation actions as symbolic interventions to open up subjects' worlds. These are the keynote for another library model, in which the social, cultural, ethical and political dimensions would be realized in favor of a democratic, inclusive and just society. Improving the quality of teaching will require, as the author pointed out, reconnecting the knowledge of Librarianship with Education, as well as its professionals (librarians and teachers), who are responsible for human and citizen education.
