Public Call for the Prevention and Combat of Zika Virus in Brazil

The article evaluates the scientific production and collaboration (co-authorship) by the coordinators of the researches funded by the Public Call for the Prevention and Combat of Zika virus. This is a bibliometric/scientometric study that analyzed a total of 315 documents about Zika virus indexed in Web of Science authored by 53 coordinators benefited by the aforementioned Public Call. The results indicated that the most of the most cited scientific productions were published in high Impact Factor journals and there was an expressive scientific collaboration between countries, especially with the United States of America and with European countries. It was noticed these scientific studies also addressed issues related to others arboviruses and the implications caused
for the health of the population caused by the infection caused by the infection of Zika virus. The research concludes that the investment in these scientific researches contributed to the generation of new knowledge about the Zika virus, thus meeting the main objective of the Public Call, in addition to the insert and international visibility of the scientific production of the researchers benefited from the funding.
