Portal Revcom & Google Analytics: accessing the black box of information

Aiming at evaluating the use and the performance of the electronic communication system used in the Portal Revcom, it was implemented the tool Google Analytics, that monitors and elaborates statistics of entrances and exits of the system, based upon the analysis of log files. This work has the objective of presenting the results of a study of this metric of use during the months of April and May of 2007. The study variables concentrate in: (a) user’s demographic data: geographic location (city, country and continent), navigator used, resolution of the monitor, frequency of visits, day of the week with bigger movement; (b) use standards: analysis of the terms of search used by users, their starting point to arrive to Portal Revcom (use of search engine or link from another Portal). The results have allowed delineating the profile of the users, evidencing alterations and strategies of spreading that are necessary to improve the institution-user interaction dynamics.Downloads
