BIBLIOTEC: an experiment of the extension course on distance learning mediated by computer

This article presents an experiment of the course BIBLIOTEC with Distance Learning mediated by computer. The focus of the course was School Libraries, which is essential to the development of the critical, conscious and helpful citizen. BIBLIOTEC was developed from some important topics, through discussions, reflections and synchronized (chat) and non synchronize (EquiText, forum and e-mails) activities. It was coordinated as Extension and lasted 80 hours. The professionals, who work in School Libraries in many places in Brazil, and the students from Library Science and Pedagogy courses shared a new learning environment, making use of information and communication technology. Teachers from the ECHOS/FABICO/UFRGS Group ministered the course. Many tools were used in the building of projects, discussions and forums, providing the interaction between participants and the development of new projects and continued education.Downloads
