Information regime and information practices
interweaving concepts to understand meaning-making processes of informational subjects

This study aimed to theoretically analyze the interconnection between the concepts of “information regime” and “information practices” within scientific publications in the area of Information Science in Brazil. An exploratory and bibliographic research approach was employed, with a systematic and qualitative typology to analyze articles available in the Scientific Electronic Library Online, the Base de Dados em Ciência da Informação, and the proceedings of National Research Meeting in Information Science. Based on the criteria adopted in the research, five articles were selected for analysis, and the investigation was conducted from the perspective of the authors, the thematic focus attributed to the concepts and the possibility of understanding their similarities and differences. The findings indicate that the interconnection between the concepts is consolidated through the concept of information actions, given that information regimes are constituted, developed, and legitimized through actions carried out by informational subjects situated in specific social contexts. However, information actions represent only one dimension of information practices, which encompass the process of meaning-making and the construction of knowledge as an informational phenomenon.
