Abstract

Starting from an interdisciplinary perspective of the concepts of body, perception, and technologies in the contemporary scene, this text will attempt to define the general aesthetic notion as bodyscape as an extension of the performer’s perception. Through a survey of some key practices from the contemporary scene such as choreographic compositions by Myriam Gourfink, Isabelle Choinière, and the project of motion signature by Martine Époque and Denis Poulin, the impact of technologies on redefining the process of the performer’s perception in the composition of the movement and the change of the notion of presence will be analysed. In this sense, a series of modifications that influence also the spectator’s perception is presented. Therefore, the notion of empathy is discussed, and an attempt to find out how this applies in the context of a digital image of the body is made.

Enrico Pitozzi insegna “Forme della scena multimediale” presso il DARvipem – Dipartimento delle Arti visive, performative e mediali dell’Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna ed “Estetica delle Interfacce” alla Scuola di nuove tecnologie dell’arte presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano. È stato visiting professor presso la Faculté des Arts de l'Université du Québec à Montréal, UQAM e tiene seminari e conferenze presso Università e Istituzione in Europa, Canada e Brasile. È membro del progetto di ricerca “Performativité et effets de présence” dell'UQAM diretto da Josette Fèral e Louise Poissant, del progetto “Poéticas Tecnològicas” diretto da Ivani Santana presso l'Universidade Federal de Bahia (Brasile) e de “L'observatoir sur l'analyse du mouvement” diretto dalla coreografa Isabelle Choinière (Montréal, Plymouth, Paris) oltre che del MeLa research group dello IUAV di Venezia. Ha curato i progetti “Il tempo inesatto” e “Texture” all'interno di “Genova 2004 Capitale Europea della Cultura”. Ha partecipato al seminario interno alla 37° Biennale del Teatro di Venezia 2005 diretta da Romeo Castellucci. Ha partecipato nel maggio 2013 – in qualità di docente – al progetto Biennale danza College della Biennale di Venezia – Settore Danza, diretto da Virgilio Sieni. È vice-caporedattore della rivista di arti performative Art’O. È autore, con Annalisa Sacchi, di Itinera. Trajectoires de la forme Tragedia Endogonidia, Arles, Actes Sud, 2008 e del saggio Étendre la peau. Scène, perception, dispositifs technologiques, in Ensemble / Ailleurs
