Through African and Afro-diasporic references, the article weaves the exercise of thinking about black children and their performances. From studies on Bantu-Kongo cosmology, it is understood that Bakongo childhood provides clues to initiate a reflection on the performances of black Brazilian childhood. Under the concepts of ancestry and a notion of circular time, it is concluded that the black child, through performance, is able to unite past and present, ancestral and living, reediting memories and keeping their culture alive.
