Through an analysis of webpages and the discourse presented in “Terms and Conditions” documents, this paper aims to understand what are the media’s intentions by adopting a reader comments system on their web pages. This investigation is an attempt to unravel what are their expectations in keeping the device, even after it has showed problems in administration, since it requires a high investment in moderation and postage control, and also because they have not found a solid role in the production routine of the vehicles that adopt it. Thus, from the detailed dissection of the text of the guidelines for use available on the vehicles’ pages, and from the assumptions of the Media Contract by Pratrick Charaudeau, this article analyzes the texts available for readers who are willing to comment on the site of Folha de São Paulo newspaper that adopts a pre-moderate model of insertion; and O Globo newspaper that prefers an afterwards moderation posting.Downloads
