Este artigo analisa uma telenovela brasileira contemporânea (Porto dos Milagres, Aguinaldo Silva e Ricardo Linhares, Rede Globo, 21h, 2001) como um cenário em que são produzidas representações políticas e sócio-culturais sobre a vida social. O texto busca mostrar como essa narrativa midiática fornece elementos para a construção do imaginário popular e de símbolos de identificação e pertencimento e revela que as discussões empreendidas na ficção mantêm estreita relação com a realidade social. Assim, o texto procura demonstrar que a telenovela ocupa um lugar privilegiado no movimento de construção de uma identidade nacional.Downloads
